I don't see how it is more sophisticated than any other topic. Something like distributed transactions or database isolation levels is really hard to follow as those topics toss all the possible events into every combination. A pipe, on the other hand, is simple - you push a data packet into one side of it, and someone else is able to pop it from the other side of the pipe. You don't really care what's inside - take it for magic.
